The wait is over!

WHATS UP!?!??!!

Feels like it's been freaking forever.  Haven't lifted weights in almost 3 weeks due to my first injury.  Got sick.  Work has been busy.  Lots of things going on, but something was missing.  Well, I'm here to tell you that I found out what it was.  You.... well, you, and a box, and some weights.

I'm not better, at least not 100%.  Took longer than expected, but I got yet another diagnosis of unclassified strep.  3rd time in 6 months.  Wholesale changes going on.  Dumping the toothbrushes and anything else I've had for a while.  Tired of this showing up... and this last time, going on over 10 days... usually it's 2 days of meh, or 4 days of near death.  This has been absurd.  #NoMas

The wrist is almost 100%, I'm going to say it's 90.  That last 10% has been a real bugger to get to.  Getting sick gave me more time home "off of it", so we'll call it a blessing in disguise.  I still think I need to see a specialist...but I'm not going to spend the money till I'm sure.  Spider man stretches today caused me some decent pain while trying to stabilize my body.  Shortly after discovering that, straps came on, and I started the warm up.  Nothing too strenuous.  Some single unders, Russian KB swings, and some rowing.

I chose today to come back because my throat felt good enough to breath, and I though this workout would be a good test of the wrist.  Strength part was strict presses.  Wasn't your normal strict press though, we did it off the rack, and the rack was set above the shoulders.  Brian said was it was to emulate, I don't recall, but it was difficult.  Built up to 95, then took it back down to 75 for the rep scheme we were doing.  In between rounds there were hollow rocks AND situps.  Bleh!  My hollow rocks are probably terrible looking.  The feel like they're terrible looking...  need some coaching.

Next item on the list.  Deadlifts.  It was a weird progression.  Wanted us to go from ~50% and do 10 reps, then over and additional 10-8-6-3-3, work to a heavy 3 rep max, or PR.  I started at 135, and worked up.  My goal was as much a speed goal as weight.  Trying to train my body to go faster... that and it's my first WOD with weights in a while, so weight wasn't my main concern.  I added 25's to each side every round, and got to the round of 3 with 4 plates on each side.  I actually missed the second set of 3, and stopped at the first set.  285 for 3.  295 is my recognized 1RM, so doing 285 for 3 seems alright to me.  I think I need to adopt the mix grip.  This is getting hard to hold on to for touch and go reps.  Need to spend a little time on this this year, my stated goal is 350 by the end.  Might be able to hit it now... hard to say.

The WOD was the real test.  Being honest, I should have finished in the time cap.  I sand bagged a little, and talked to Brian a little.  My first round of thurster were classic me... front squat with a strict press.  LOL.  7 reps power cleans, 30 single under, 5 thursters, 12 situps.  At least thats what I did.  The firs set of cleans felt good... light, but I tried to focus on form... oh, and I did them at 95, forgot to mention that bit.  The jumping was fine.  Like I mentioned earlier, the thursters were a bit brutal.  First few times my wrists felt awful.  Too much of a clean grip on them I suspect.  Situps sucked, I'd already done plenty earlier, so coming back to this wasn't all that fun.  I'd rather have done knees to elbows and bitched about my hands.

Second round wasn't much different than the first.  Touch'n'go power cleans the whole way, didn't need to drop the bar.  Jumping... rhythm was off, I blame the missing workouts.  Thrusters got better, hurt less.  Situps we're meh.  Got through round 3 about the same way.  Near the end of the situps, I hear "3 minutes left".  I should have been able to make it, but I didn't.  Got the cleans in easy enough, the jumping torched a lot of time.  I had about 45 seconds left on the thursters.  I got 2.  It was mental, and I didn't rise to the bell.  Ended up with two thursters.  Brian seemed half way impressed.  Not many people finished todays WOD, and most weren't' as close as I was.

Felt good to be back.  Wrist feels ok now, but as soon as I'm done with this, I'm putting it on ice.  I'm already taking some ibuprofen to stem any inflammation, the rest is Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE).  See how I feel in the morning.  Until then...
